Auto-Organize

Set it and forget it.

Turn on auto-organize and Broomly quietly sorts new downloads in the background. Conservative by design — only moves what it's confident about.

File monitoring
Broomly watches your Downloads folder for new files. When something lands, it waits until the file is finished downloading before evaluating it.
Safety gates
Partial downloads, locked files, and brand-new files are automatically skipped. Each rule has an automation-safe toggle — only rules you trust move automatically.
You set the policy
Per rule, you choose: move automatically or pause for review. Files inside subfolders are never auto-touched. Restored files are blocked from re-organization.
Notifications, not surprises
After each background pass, Broomly sends a summary notification. Files that need review are flagged. You're never left wondering what happened.
Privacy

Your files never leave your Mac.

Broomly works entirely offline. No accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry, no tracking.

No network access
Broomly never connects to the internet. File names, file contents, and metadata never leave your device. No analytics, no crash reporters, no cloud services.
Sandboxed & scoped
Broomly only accesses your Downloads folder, and only after you explicitly grant permission via macOS security-scoped bookmarks. The rest of your drive is off-limits.
One purchase. No catch.
7-day free trial with full features. Then a one-time purchase of $4.99 unlocks Broomly forever. No subscription, no recurring charges, no hidden fees.
FAQ

Quick answers.

Everything you need to know before you tidy.

Yes. Broomy shows you a full preview of every proposed action before anything is moved. You confirm, and only then does Broomy act. Unclear files are never touched automatically.

Never. Broomy is fully local. It has no network access and never uploads your files or metadata anywhere. Your downloads stay entirely on your Mac.

That's the whole point. Broomy's preview-first workflow shows exactly which files will move, where they'll go, and why—before anything happens. You're always in the driving seat.

Undo it. Broomy keeps a full history of every move. You can revert individual files or an entire session—instantly, without any fuss.

Only when you enable auto-organize. Broomly then watches your Downloads folder and sorts well-matched files in the background. Ambiguous files stay put until you review them. Every rule has its own automation toggle — you decide what's safe to move automatically.

Yes. Create custom rules that match files by extension or filename keyword. Assign any destination folder. You can also create Project presets that group multiple file types into a single project folder, with its own automation toggle.

Never. Broomly only moves files within your Downloads folder. It does not delete files. The empty-folder cleanup option only removes folders Broomly created that are completely empty.

Broomly offers a 7-day free trial with all features included. After the trial, a one-time purchase of $4.99 unlocks Broomly forever. No subscription. No recurring charges. Family Sharing is supported.

Broomly requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Broomly works with your local Downloads folder. If your Downloads folder is synced via iCloud, Broomly's moves will sync like any other file change. Broomly itself does not connect to iCloud or any cloud service.

A tidy Downloads folder is one click away.
